Learn about the principles and components of a watercooling system

Watercooling system PC Modding

Watercooling works by circulating water through a water block, which is installed on the CPU or GPU. The water block has a copper or aluminum base that comes into direct contact with the component to be cooled. The water dissipates the heat and flows through tubing to a radiator, where the heat is emitted into the air. A water pump is used to circulate the water, and a fan is used to cool the radiator.

Water has a much higher specific heat capacity than air, meaning it can absorb and dissipate more heat. Watercooling can provide better cooling than air coolers, and it's also much quieter. If you're looking for a way to keep your computer cool and quiet, watercooling is a great option. Watercooling is also a great way to improve the look of your computer by adding waterblocks with different materials and finishes.

Watercooling components

CPU Waterblock

A CPU waterblock is a watercooling solution that is used to cool a computer's central processing unit (CPU). Most waterblocks are made of copper or aluminum. The waterblock is attached to the CPU using a waterblock mounting kit, which includes a waterblock base, a backplate, and screws.

Waterblocks are available in a variety of sizes and shapes to fit different types of CPUs. They can also be customized with different materials and finishes to match the look of your computer.

The benefits of watercooling your CPU include improved cooling performance, lower noise levels, and extended CPU life.

GPU Waterblock

A GPU waterblock is a watercooling solution that is used to cool the graphic processing unit (GPU). Most waterblocks are made of copper or aluminum. The waterblock is attached to the graphics card using a waterblock mounting kit, which includes a waterblock base, a backplate, and screws.

The benefits of watercooling your GPU include improved cooling performance, lower noise levels, and extended life of your graphics card.

Pumps & Distroplates

Watercooling pumps and distroplates are an important part of any watercooling system. Pumps circulate the water through the system, while distroplates and reservoirs distribute the water evenly. Both are necessary for proper operation of a watercooling system.

There are many different types of watercooling pumps and distroplates on the market. It is important to choose the right one for your system. Factors to consider include pump flow rate, head pressure, and power consumption. Distroplates come in various sizes and with different numbers of ports. Make sure to choose a distroplate that will fit your components and provide adequate waterflow.

Installing a watercooling pump and distroplate is not difficult, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, make sure that the pump is compatible with your chosen coolant. Second, check that all fittings and tubing are properly secured. Third, connect the pump to the power supply and turn it on. Fourth, fill the reservoir with coolant and release the air bubbles of the system.

Fans & Radiators

When the cooling liquid flows through the fins of the radiator, the mounted fan conducts the heat outside of the case. The structure of the radiator contains several fins that largen the surface.

Fittings & Tubes

The pipes and tubes guide the coolant through the cooling circuit of the water cooling system. You can use pipes (hard tubes), which you can shape into the desired form or buy already preformed. Or you can opt for flexible tubes (soft tubes). To attach the tubes to the components you need fittings. Fittings are available in many different colours.

Tools & Accessoiries

Here you will find the tools you need to install your water cooling system. You will also find thermal paste, which you need to transfer heat from the PC components to the water cooling system, as well as spare parts, cables and LEDs.

Coolant fluid

We offer a selection of specially optimised coolant in many different colours. Before use, check whether the coolant is compatible with the rest of your water cooling components or contact our support if in doubt. Never use tap water in your water cooling system, as it contains lime and electrolytes, causes deposits and can damage your PC components if it leaks. We also advise against using pure distilled water, as this does not protect against corrosion and algae growth.

Benefits of watercooling

10 reasons why you need a watercooling system

1.  Watercooling can improve your PC's performance. Cooler components tend to run faster and more smoothly than warmer ones. Water cooling systems can dissipate significantly more heat than conventional air cooling systems. Water cooling is an excellent choice for those who use their PC frequently and intensively - especially for gamers and professional users.

2. Expecting heatwaves? Water cooling systems are generally less sensitive to ambient temperatures than air-cooled systems because water cooling systems are able to transfer heat more efficiently.

3. Water cooling systems are significantly quieter in operation than conventional fan cooling systems.

4. There is a lot to learn and discover. Building a water cooling system is a great way to learn more about your PC and how it works. You'll be surprised how much fun you have tinkering around and figuring things out.

5. Watercooling is surprisingly easy to do and there are tons of resources available to help you. It's not as intimidating as it looks and once you get started, you'll be hooked.

6. Watercooling is a great way to increase the lifespan of your PC. By keeping it cooler, you're preventing damage and ensuring it will last for years to come.

7. Modding your PC is not complete until you add watercooling. It just looks so much cooler with all that tubing and liquid running through it. Plus, all your friends will be jealous of your sweet setup. Water cooling systems are the best way to give your PC a custom look and make it stand out from the crowd.

8. Watercooled PCs just look so darn impressive. All those lights and colors...it's like a work of art.

9. It is a satisfying feeling to have designed your PC according to your own ideas and preferences. It's like a badge of honour and you'll be proud of your achievement.

10. It's just fun! Water cooling is a great hobby and with all the different possibilities it never gets boring. Plus there is always something new to learn and a great community. You can set up your watercooling the way you want it. Make it as simple or complex as you like and create your own personal build. So what are you waiting for?
